Morocco tours pack imperial cities, the Sahara, the Atlas Mountains and two coastlines into one country — and the right itinerary depends entirely on how many days you have, where you want to fly into, and what kind of traveler you are. The eight tours below are Gateway2Morocco's signature private itineraries, ranked the way our actual bookings rank them. Every one is fully private — just your group, your driver, and a licensed local guide. None of them are fixed: pick one as your starting point, then we customize the pace, the accommodation tier, and the exact stops to fit your group.

Why North American Travelers Choose Gateway2Morocco
Most travelers comparing Morocco operators land on the same three questions: who actually runs the tour on the ground, what does "private" really mean, and what happens if something goes wrong. Here's how we answer each.

Morocco Tours from the USA & Canada
Gateway2Morocco specializes in North American travelers. Pricing is shown in both USD and CAD across the site. Itineraries are paced for travelers arriving from a 5–8 hour time-zone difference, with the first day always built as a low-key arrival day so you have time to recover from the flight.
🇺🇸 Morocco tours from the USA
Most US travelers fly into Casablanca (CMN) via Royal Air Maroc, Air France, Lufthansa, or British Airways from JFK, EWR, IAD, ORD, ATL, or MIA. Royal Air Maroc operates nonstop New York–Casablanca and Washington–Casablanca year-round. Pricing on every tour shown in USD; we issue invoices through US-payment-friendly channels.
🇨🇦 Morocco tours from Canada
Royal Air Maroc runs seasonal direct flights YUL–CMN (Montreal–Casablanca). From Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, or Ottawa: connect through Montreal, Paris (Air France), London (British Airways), or Amsterdam (KLM). Pricing in CAD, BPCPA-licensed agency (#80460), and ACTA-accredited — same Canadian consumer protections as a domestic booking.
Best Time to Visit Morocco
Morocco's climate splits sharply by region. The general rule: spring and autumn are the universal sweet spots; summer is for the coast only; winter is for the Sahara and the cities.
Spring (March – May)
The ideal window. Mild everywhere, wildflowers in the Atlas, the Roses Valley in bloom in May. Best for first-time visitors.
Autumn (Sept – Nov)
The other ideal window. Summer crowds gone, the Sahara cools to comfortable temperatures, harvest season in the Atlas.
Summer (June – Aug)
Marrakech and Fes hit 38°C+. Stick to the Atlantic coast (Essaouira, Tangier) or the Atlas Mountains. Sahara is too hot.
Winter (Dec – Feb)
Excellent for the Sahara (warm days, cold nights — pack layers) and the imperial cities. Atlas peaks may have snow.
Morocco Tour FAQ
Answers to the questions every traveler asks before booking. If yours isn't here, the team replies to direct inquiries within 24 hours.
How many days do you need for a Morocco tour?
The minimum that works without rushing is 8 days, which gives you Marrakech, the Sahara, and the High Atlas. 10 days lets you add Fes and Chefchaouen. 13–14 days lets you add the Atlantic coast (Essaouira, Safi) for the complete picture. Most North American travelers choose 10–11 days.
What's the best Morocco tour for first-time visitors?
If you want everything iconic — imperial cities, the Sahara, and the Atlas — book the 11-day Exotic Morocco tour. If you want to skip the desert this trip and focus on history, book the 9-day Imperial Cities tour. Both are private, both run year-round, and both round-trip from Casablanca.
How much does a private Morocco tour cost?
Gateway2Morocco's private tours start at $2,120 USD or CA$2,925 per person for the 8-day Erg Chigaga tour. Most 9–11 day tours run $2,385–$2,915 USD per person. The 13–14 day grand tours run $3,445–$3,710 USD per person. All prices include private driver, licensed guides, all entrance fees, daily breakfast, and airport transfers. International flights are not included.
Is Morocco safe for American and Canadian tourists?
Yes. Morocco is one of the most politically stable countries in North Africa and a longstanding ally of both the US and Canada. The US Department of State and Global Affairs Canada maintain standard "exercise normal precautions" advisories. On a private tour you have a vetted driver and licensed guides with you — petty pickpocketing in crowded medinas is the most common issue, exactly as it would be in Paris or Barcelona.
Do US or Canadian citizens need a visa for Morocco?
No. US and Canadian passport holders can enter Morocco visa-free for stays up to 90 days. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. No advance paperwork is required.
What's the best time of year to visit Morocco?
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the ideal windows — mild everywhere, manageable temperatures in the Sahara, and the Atlas at its most beautiful. Summer is too hot for inland tours; stick to the Atlantic coast. Winter is excellent for the Sahara and the imperial cities, but the Atlas may have snow.
What does "private tour" actually mean?
Just your group — never strangers added to your vehicle, never a coach bus with 30 other travelers, never a fixed schedule you have to keep up with. You get a private vehicle (sedan, SUV, or minivan based on group size), a dedicated English-speaking driver for the full trip, and licensed local guides who join you for medina tours and historic sites. You can change pace, swap stops, or sleep in mid-trip without anyone else's plans affecting yours.
Can I customize the itinerary?
Yes — every itinerary is a starting point, not a fixed menu. You can add days, remove cities, change accommodation tier, request specific riads, build the trip around a special occasion, accommodate dietary restrictions or religious requirements (halal-only stays, kosher meals, prayer-time-aware schedules), or build something completely from scratch. The 48-hour proposal you receive is fully revisable until you're happy.
What's the difference between Erg Chebbi and Erg Chigaga?
Erg Chebbi (near Merzouga) has the iconic tall dunes you've seen in photos, is reachable by paved road, and has more luxury camp options — it's the standard Sahara experience. Erg Chigaga (south of Mhamid) is more remote, requires a 60 km 4×4 piste to reach, has fewer visitors and feels more like an expedition. Pick Erg Chebbi for first-time desert visitors and Erg Chigaga if you've done the Sahara before or specifically want unspoiled solitude.
What language do tours operate in?
English. All Gateway2Morocco drivers and guides speak fluent English. French and Spanish are also available on request — let us know during your proposal. The team in Vancouver communicates in English throughout planning.
Do you offer halal Morocco tours?
Yes — Morocco is a Muslim country so halal food and prayer-friendly logistics are the default. For Muslim travelers we can specifically arrange halal-only riads (which is most of them), prayer-time-aware driving schedules, and avoidance of restaurants that serve alcohol. Just request this when you book.
Are Gateway2Morocco tours suitable for solo female travelers?
Yes. With a private driver and guide accompanying you, solo female travel in Morocco is straightforward and safe. Many of our reviews on TripAdvisor are from solo women travelers. A female guide can also be requested for medina tours.
How do I book a Morocco tour?
Request a free 48-hour proposal — tell us your travel dates, group size, interests, accommodation preference, and budget. Within 48 hours you receive a complete custom itinerary with full pricing. You revise as needed. When the itinerary is exactly right, you pay a deposit to confirm. Final balance is due 60 days before departure.
Is Gateway2Morocco a licensed and insured travel agency?
Yes. Gateway2Morocco is BPCPA-licensed (#80460) by the British Columbia Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority, IATA accredited, and ACTA accredited (Association of Canadian Travel Agencies). The on-the-ground operation in Morocco is fully insured and uses licensed local guides for every historic site visit.
